Pisgah Bears,
We wanted to reach out and let you know that we miss you and we hope that you have had a good summer. Our county has selected Plan B, Option F to begin the start of school. There are multiple things that we are working on to get this plan going. Below are a few key components to pay attention to for this upcoming school year.
Freshmen Orientation:
We are planning a Freshmen Orientation so that freshmen are able to visit campus and get familiar with teachers and their schedule. This orientation is a work in progress as we plan to create a safe environment for you and your family. We will send an email and phone notification when the dates and times are confirmed.
Chromebook Distribution:
Students will have the opportunity to pick up a Chromebook before August 17th. We are working on creating Chromebook distribution days. When that schedule is set we will send email and phone notifications. Both the parent/guardian and the student must be present to pick up Chromebooks.
Remote Learning Launch:
As you know we will begin the 2020-2021 school year remotely. Our first digital student day will be August 17, 2020. A specific schedule will be sent to you closer to that day outlining what it will look like. Your student schedules will be available on PowerSchool closer to the start date as well. We will send a phone announcement when you are able to access your schedule.
Safety:
As we look ahead to September 21st, in hopes of opening school at a reduced capacity face to face, we have safety protocols that will be required. Some of those protocols include:
- Cloth Facemasks: All students, staff, visitors, etc. will be required to wear a mask on campus. The mask must cover your mouth and nose. Any signage on masks must be dress code appropriate.
- Daily Screenings: Upon arrival on campus each student will go through a daily screening. This consists of a battery of questions and a temperature check.
- Social Distancing: There will be signage throughout the campus indicating one-way traffic and 6ft distance. Inside classrooms desks will be spaced 6ft apart.
- Handwashing Stations/ Schedules: There will be ample automatic hand sanitizers throughout the campus and inside classrooms. Students and staff will use them frequently throughout the day.
As always, the Pisgah Nation will pull together and make the best of this situation and this year!
Go Bears!
