PHS Students,

All students are encouraged to learn as much as possible during the remainder of 2019-20.  We should make every reasonable effort to help students progress as much as possible.  When we come out of this crisis situation, what you have learned will be more beneficial than grades on your transcript.  I recently heard someone say, “You can get a lot done in a storm.”  This COVID-19 storm is an opportunity for our students to learn more than other students across the state and nation.  Together, let’s make every reasonable effort to stay engaged in learning. (Dr. Nolte, 3/20 Press Release)

Senior Class of 2020:

  • If you have a PASSING GRADE in PowerSchool as of March 13th, you will receive a “PC19” Pass Covid-19 for the course. You should continue to stay engaged with your teachers to ensure that you are preparing for your ventures outside of high school.
  • If you do NOT have a passing grade in PowerSchool as of March 13th, you need to ensure that you make contact with your teacher so you can make a plan to receive credit for this course.
  • If you are taking an HCC course, you should make every effort to complete the course so you can receive college credit. If you are unable to complete your HCC course for any reason please reach out to your Counselor.
  • If you are taking an AP course you will still have an AP Exam, so you have the opportunity to receive college credit. This exam will be taken in an online format.
  • As of now, we are still on track for graduation in June. We will let you know as soon as/ if this changes.

Non-Seniors:
  • Every effort must be made to continue distance learning.
  • Teachers will continue to provide meaningful feedback and assign appropriate grades.
  • Our focus is to provide meaningful feedback and promote student growth.
  • We are currently waiting for more guidance from NCDPI and the State Board regarding grading for the Spring Semester.

We encourage everyone to continue to stay engaged. Please be patient as we receive, process, and share new information from the state.  This is an evolving situation.  In the meantime, be calm, kind, smart, and safe.
